Filmfest Munich 2023: The best looks of the stars and starlets

The 40th Munich Film Festival has begun. Until July 1st, the crème de la crème of the German film industry will come together to celebrate the film highlights of the year at various events. At the opening last Friday, numerous well-known faces showed up, such as Veronica Ferres with her daughter Lilly Krug or Iris Berben, who is presenting her new Netflix science fiction thriller “Paradise” at this year’s film festival together with Kostja Ullmann, as well as many other stars like moderator Wayne Carpendale or entrepreneur Judith Williams.

Three sections structure the awards

This year, the US feature film “The Persian Version” by director Maryam Keshavarz was selected as the opening film, which is about the daughter of an Iranian couple who emigrated to the USA, who deal with prejudices and clichés in a humorous way in their everyday life must. The core of the festival are also three sections that can be selected and in which 12 films compete against each other: “CineMasters”, in which international films compete for the title of the best international film, “CineVision” as a prize for newcomers in the industry and ” CineRebels” for rather unconventional and niche productions.

Spread over nine cinemas throughout the city, the film festival shows the production hits of the year not only for those involved in the film, but also for film fans. Numerous events, panel talks and campaign stands – this year with a focus on AI – round off the film highlight.
