Filmfest München: The audience award from SZ and Bayern2 – Munich

Numerous prizes are awarded at the Munich Film Festival: the highly endowed in the competition series, honorary prizes such as the Cinemerit Award for outstanding personalities (2021: Senta Berger and Robin Wright), the New German Cinema Awards and many more.

One award is special: at the audience award from Süddeutscher Zeitung and Bavaria 2 the visitors have the floor – and can gain something themselves. Every film seen can be rated online with the ticket number (except for contributions from the Children’s Film Festival and the “New German Television” series, older films are also not considered here). Voting will take place during the festival at filmfest-muenchen.de in the “Films” section at the respective works. At the end of the day, the most popular film will be awarded the coveted trophy.

In previous years this was the documentary For Sama about the war in Syria (2019, directed by Waad Al Kateab and Edward Watts), the historical drama Wackersdorf (2018, director: Oliver Haffner) and Still young, the music documentary of the rock band Killer mushrooms (2017, directed by David Schlichter and Fabian Halbig). The audience award has existed since 2004 and has given one or the other career additional momentum.

But the winner in the audience can also look forward to it: The Munich Film Festival raffles the Southgerman newspaper and Bavaria 2 One year cinema pass for two people, valid in Bavarian cinemas. More information at filmfest-muenchen.de.
