The British actor has appeared in two films by cult director Wes Anderson. Now he is set to join the ensemble of the new dinosaur film from the “Jurassic” universe.

Wes Anderson Star According to a report, Rupert Friend is taking on a role in the new “Jurassic World” film. As the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” reported, the 42-year-old Brit is set to play alongside Scarlett Johansson (“Black Widow”, 39) and Jonathan Bailey (“Bridgerton”, 36) in the new dinosaur film from the “Jurassic” universe. Friend was seen in the latest films “Asteroid City” (2023) and “The French Dispatch” (2021) by cult director Wes Anderson (55).

In January it was announced that the studio Universal Pictures is working on a new “Jurassic World” film with a planned theatrical release in July 2025. Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla”, “The Creator”) is on board as director. David Koepp, who wrote the screenplays for the Steven Spielberg films “Jurassic Park” (1993) and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997), is responsible for the script.

The planned film will introduce new characters and a new story, it was announced in January. It was not initially known whether previous actors such as Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern or Jeff Goldblum will be involved.

So far, there have been six blockbuster films in the “Jurassic Park” series from 1993 to 2001, followed by “Jurassic World” from 2015 to 2022. The second trilogy was completed in 2022 by “Jurassic World: A New Age”.
