The historical drama is based on the book by a US author and describes the encounter of a young military psychiatrist with Hermann Göring. Malek plays the psychiatrist, Crowe embodies Göring.

The two Oscar winners Rami Malek (42, “Bohemian Rhapsody”) and Russell Crowe (59, “Gladiator”) will take on leading roles in the historical drama “Nuremberg” about the Nuremberg trials after the end of the Second World War. The production company Walden Media announced the cast for the project.

The film is based on the book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist” by US author Jack El-Hai. In it he describes the encounter between the young US military psychiatrist Douglas Kelley and Hermann Göring, the highest-ranking Nazi who survived the end of the war and was captured by US troops. Kelley had the opportunity to question him for months in 1945 while the trial of leading Nazi war criminals was being prepared. Göring, former head of the Luftwaffe, was sentenced to death in 1946, but avoided execution by committing suicide.

US screenwriter James Vanderbilt (48, “Zodiac”, “White House Down”), who previously directed the journalism drama “The Moment of Truth”, will direct the film. Malek plays the psychiatrist, Crowe embodies Göring, Michael Shannon (49, “The Flash) the main prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials, US judge Robert H. Jackson. Filming is scheduled to start in Hungary in February, reports the film portal “Deadline.com” .
