The 74th Berlinale starts on Thursday. Film fans have been able to get tickets for the first screenings of the film festival since Monday morning.

Ticket sales for the international film festival in Berlin have begun. On Monday morning the first tickets for the Berlinale, which starts this Thursday (February 15th). “The number of hits on our program search was higher than last year,” a spokeswoman for the Berlinale told the German Press Agency. The start of ticket sales went smoothly.

Tickets for regular performances this year cost 15 euros. In the Berlinale Palast at Potsdamer Platz and at special gala premieres in the Verti Music Hall they are 18 euros. There are discounts for schoolchildren, students, citizens’ benefit recipients and even unemployed people. Tickets are always available three days in advance.

Alongside Cannes and Venice, the Berlinale is one of the largest film festivals in the world. On Thursday the film festival opens with the world premiere of the Irish-Belgian drama “Small Things Like These”.
