The Berlinale is about to restart its personnel. It is still unclear who will lead the festival in the future. Another question has been resolved.

The Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o heads the jury Berlinale 2024. The press office announced this on Monday. The 40-year-old Oscar winner is known from “12 Years a Slave” and the “Black Panther” films. She also works as a director, producer and author.

“Lupita Nyong’o embodies what we love about cinema: the versatile approach to different projects, the ability to address different target groups and at the same time a consistency that is clearly visible in her roles, no matter how different they may be. We are happy and proud “that she has accepted our invitation to be the jury president of the 74th Berlinale,” said the Berlinale management duo Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian.

She was deeply honored, Nyong’o was quoted as saying. “I look forward to celebrating and recognizing the outstanding work of filmmakers from around the world.”

The Berlinale will take place from February 15th to 25th. It was previously announced that the future management of the film festival would be presented on Tuesday. Chatrian and Rissenbeek will be eliminated after this year’s edition.
