Martin Scorsese has fond memories of Cannes: he won the Palme d’Or with “Taxi Driver” and 25 years ago he was President of the Jury. Now he has presented his new film on the Côte d’Azur.

With Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, three film legends have come to Cannes. Scorsese’s new crime thriller “Killers of the Flower Moon” premiered at the film festival on Saturday. Hundreds of fans lined the red carpet to catch a glimpse of the movie stars.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” tells the story of the indigenous people of the Osage, who became the victims of a great crime in Oklahoma in the 1920s. Members of her tribe were systematically murdered after large amounts of oil were found on their land. After the murders went uninvestigated, the FBI finally investigated. The Apple production is based on a true story and non-fiction book by journalist David Grann.

Scorsese won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1976 for his cult film “Taxi Driver” starring De Niro. “Killers of the Flower Moon” is out of competition this year.
