Film Days of Francophonie: The Theatiner shows French language. – Munich

French is spoken in many countries and is celebrated on March 20th, International Francophonie Day. The Theatine cinema Celebrate with us, feature films, documentaries and short films from France, Canada, Tunisia, Québec and Switzerland can be seen at the Filmtage der Francophonie – of course in the original version with subtitles. The most recent film by the French-Swiss director Ursula Meier marks the beginning: In “La ligne” (“The Line”) she tells the story of a woman who attacks her mother during an argument, is arrested and is not allowed to approach her family for three months . The drama ran in the Berlinale Competition in 2022 and has a prominent cast with Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Benjamin Biolay.

There are even more stars to be seen in the thriller “L’homme de la cave”: Bérénice Bejo and Jérémie Renier sell the basement of their apartment building to a teacher (François Cluzet). But then he moves in and terrorizes the neighborhood. Finally, a documentary film from Switzerland is on the schedule: “Citoyen Nobel” is about the chemistry Nobel Prize winner Jacques Dubochet, who uses his newfound fame and becomes a climate activist.
