According to ADAC, fuel costs the same as it did at the beginning of the war. The reason for this is the fallen oil price. The traffic club still thinks the prices at the gas stations are too high.
Refueling in Germany has become cheaper again. This emerges from the latest calculations by the ADAC. The price of diesel fuel has fallen to its low for the year. For a liter, drivers currently have to pay an average of 1.695 euros nationwide, which is 2.6 cents less than in the previous week.
According to the ADAC, petrol is 2.7 cents cheaper than a week ago. A liter of Super E10 currently costs 1.735 euros. From the previous low for the year (1.692 euros per liter of Super E10 on January 12), petrol is still 4.3 cents away. However, E10 is now roughly at the level at the time the war began.
Bank turmoil weighs on oil prices
The reason given by the ADAC for the drop in prices at the pumps is the “relaxation on the crude oil market” compared to the previous week. A barrel of North Sea Brent currently costs around 75 US dollars.
As a result of the turbulence in the banking sector, the price of oil slipped to just over $72 last week, at times to its lowest level since the end of 2021. The falling oil price is interpreted as a harbinger of a weakening economy.
“Still too high”
“Regardless of the positive development from the driver’s point of view, the price level at the gas stations is still too high,” writes the ADAC. At four cents, the difference between the two types of fuel is still far too small.
According to the recommendation of the ADAC, drivers should fill up their tanks in the evening. ADAC evaluations show that average fuel prices are particularly low between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. In the morning, on the other hand, you should avoid the gas stations if you don’t want to pay an average of 15 cents per liter more for fuel.
