Fight against Corona – parents can have their children immunized – Freising

The vaccinations for children between the ages of five and eleven will start next week, according to information from the Freising District Office. District spokesman Robert Stangl informed that the vaccine was delivered on Tuesday. Earlier than expected. At first it was assumed in the district office that the vaccine intended for this would be delivered for the first time on Monday, December 20. There are a total of 2000 individual doses, i.e. exactly as much as you ordered, according to Robert Stangl.

In the Freising vaccination center, the vaccinations would initially always be carried out on Wednesday afternoons. From January onwards, the vaccination offer for children should be extended to Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Vaccinations are also given in doctors’ offices. There will probably also be a special vaccination campaign, but this is still being planned. In addition, vaccination campaigns might follow in schools, as they already existed in secondary schools for young people between the ages of twelve and 17. But for the time being they want to wait, so Stangl.

The district office receives 450 registrations within a week

The district office wants to first inquire about the need and then plan accordingly. The waste of vaccine should be avoided. That is why the email address [email protected] was set up, through which parents can register their child for a vaccination appointment. After the email address was announced, around 450 registrations were received within a week, reports Robert Stangl. This number of registrations was not necessarily expected, which testifies to the great interest shown by parents in having their children vaccinated. It is quite conceivable that the demand for vaccines will continue to rise when the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) approves the vaccine for all children between the ages of five and twelve.

According to a press release on Thursday, December 9th, the Stiko recommends vaccination against Covid-19 initially for children with previous illnesses, as well as for children whose environment includes people at particular risk for a severe course of Covid-19. However, if they so wish, children without previous illnesses could also receive the vaccination.

So that the children receive their second vaccination in a timely manner and the appointments for the vaccination center can be planned more easily, the date for the second vaccination is set when the first vaccination appointment is made. The aim is to avoid wasting the vaccine. It would be helpful if parents would register their child in the registration portal of the Bavarian Vaccination Management against Corona (BayIMCO) at https://impfzentren.bayern in order to speed up the processes.
