The German national team defeated Costa Rica 4-2 in the final game of the group stage. Coach Hansi Flick’s team still didn’t make it into the knockout phase.
The German national team was eliminated from the soccer World Cup in Qatar. The team of national coach Hansi Flick won against Costa Rica 4:2. However, with Japan beating Spain 2-1 in the other game in Group E, the result was not enough to qualify for the round of 16.
At the beginning of the game (10th minute) Serge Gnabry put the German team in the lead. In the second half, Costa Ricans Yeltsin Tejeda (58′) and Juan Vargas (70′) briefly turned the game around. Kai Havertz (73’/84′) ensured the German victory with a double goal, Niclas Füllkrug (89′) added shortly before the end of the game.
