On Friday, Joséphine Contu Albrizio, Vice President of the Swiss Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, announced something drastic for the football world: the verdict in the trial against the former top officials Sepp Blatter, 86, and Michel Platini, 67. The Swiss Attorney General (BA) accuses that a payment made in 2011 was fraud against the World Federation. At that time, FIFA, led by Blatter, transferred two million Swiss francs to Platini, the head of the European football association Uefa. The duo deny the cheating allegations; the money was the lawful and long-agreed final payment for an earlier consulting service.
