Fifa President Gianni Infantino (52) uses the opportunity after a meeting of the Council of the world association not only to draw a public World Cup summary – but also to announce the new mode of the Club World Cup!

At a press conference on Friday, Infantino said: “The new Men’s Club World Cup will be held in 2025 and will feature 32 teams. It’s structured like a world championship.”
Details such as host and date still have to be discussed and decided, said Infantino.
The next Club World Cup will take place in Morocco from February 1 to 11, 2023 – albeit on a smaller scale.

The tournament was originally supposed to be played in China in the summer of 2021 – for the first time in a new format with 24 teams. Due to the corona-related postponement of the European Championship and the Copa America, however, the Club World Cup was also postponed. And with that, the plans for the new format with more teams were postponed.
FC Bayern is the only German team to have won the Club World Cup (2013/14 and 2020/21 seasons).
