Fewer and fewer home break-ins in Bavaria – Bavaria

In Bavaria, the number of burglaries continues to decline. In 2020 there were 4181 cases, this was the lowest value in eleven years, said Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) on Friday in Munich. From 2018 (5239 cases) to 2019, the number had also decreased by 17.1 percent to 4342 cases. A further significant decline in the number of burglaries can also be assumed for the current year.

The reasons for the positive development are attentive citizens and the use of special security systems. According to an evaluation by the State Criminal Police Office, technical protection prevented at least 1252 break-ins in the Free State last year. Herrmann therefore appealed to all citizens to invest in protecting their own four walls: “It pays off.” In addition, 195 burglaries were prevented due to attentive citizens who, for example, reacted immediately to suspicious observations and, for example, notified the police.

Despite the positive trend, the police are continuing to specifically intensify the fight against burglars. In the winter half-year there will be controls against burglar gangs within the framework of the cross-border cooperation with Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony, said Herrmann. In particular, groups of offenders traveling on supraregional routes are targeted.
