“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” apparently gets an offshoot: “Sam and Victor’s Day Off”. But who are the two title characters anyway?

Jon Hurwitz (44), Hayden Schlossberg (43) and Josh Heald (44) have already proven with their successful Netflix series “Cobrai Kai” that they have an eye for unusual continuations of a cult series (“Karate Kid”). According to the industry website “Deadline”, they are now working on a no less wacky spin-off idea: With “Sam and Victor’s Day Off”, an offshoot of the cult film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with Matthew Broderick (60) is said to be in the works.

Accordingly, Paramount Pictures is already on board for the project. If the two title characters don’t say anything to you as a die-hard fan of the 1986 comedy, rest assured – because they can’t do that at all. The main characters of the offshoot are supposed to be the parking service employees, who are still nameless in the original, and who take it for a spin in the famous red Ferrari. The duo was played by Richard Edson (68) and Larry “Flash” Jenkins, who died in 2019.

Is Broderick playing?

It is doubtful that Matthew Broderick will return in the role that made him world famous. Because “Sam and Victor’s Day Off” is supposed to take place during the events of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. In another role, however, a guest appearance would certainly be ideal.

In the “Karate Kid” offshoot “Cobra Kai”, which will be in its fifth season from September 9, 2022, the former villain of the original, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka, 56), was quickly transformed into a hero. Ralph Macchio (60) can also be seen in his role as Daniel “Karate Kid” LaRusso, as well as other stars of the four-part film series.
