Ferrero is recalling the products listed above, although none have tested positive for salmonella and the group has not received any consumer complaints from Germany. All other Ferrero products, including other “kids” products, are not affected by this voluntary recall.

Customers who still have one of these products in their cupboard at home should refrain from eating it. Instead, they should contact Ferrero Customer Service. As a result of the recall, authorities have now ordered the closure of a Ferrero plant in Belgium.

First report, Tuesday (April 5), 5:53 p.m.: Just before Easter, Ferrero is recalling numerous products in Germany. Several chocolate snacks from the well-known “Kinder Schokolade” are affected. The reason for the recall is a suspicion of salmonella, which had initially been substantiated abroad.

The affected products were manufactured at the Arlon plant in Belgium. There had previously been recalls from Ferrero in Belgium and Great Britain. They were justified by “a number of reported outbreaks of salmonella in various EU member states”, as the responsible Belgian authority announced (more on Recalls & Alerts at RUHR24).

On Friday, France and Sweden were joined by Germany. Ferrero explained that the decision to recall the “Kinder Schokolade” products was voluntary and as a precautionary measure. They are working closely with the responsible food authorities in Germany to uncover a possible connection with a number of reported salmonella cases.

So far, no complaints have been received from consumers. In addition, none of the “children’s” products have so far tested positive for salmonella. Nonetheless, the matter is taken very seriously. There is currently another candy recall – this is halva with pistachios.
