The municipal council prepares the ground for a possible settlement of Isar Aerospace. Mayor Andreas Janson believes his municipality has an advantage with the property in close proximity to the train station.
Feldkirchen follows suit in the struggle for the rocket company Isar Aerospace: At its meeting on Thursday, the municipal council unanimously decided to change the land use plan and to draw up a development plan for the area north of the train station and west of the local recreation area Heimstettener See. With this, the first prerequisites for the settlement of the company have been created.
When the company, which is currently based in Ottobrunn, announced in May that it needed more space, it aroused interest in several communities. Taufkirchen initially expressed interest, the municipal council started a development plan process and made a lot of accommodations for the company: on an area between the motorway and the Jochen-Schweizer-Arena, construction with wall heights of up to 30 meters should be possible. A little later, Haar entered the race. However, there is not only unity there: recently the municipal council was divided over the dimensions of the settlement.
Apartments, green spaces and leisure facilities are also to be built
Finally, at the end of July, it became known that Feldkirchen was also courting Isar Aerospace. It is still far from clear which municipality the company will ultimately choose. For Feldkirchen’s Mayor Andreas Janson (Independent Voters’ Association), his municipality has an advantage with the property in the immediate vicinity of the train station. If everything goes according to Feldkirchner’s ideas, the settlement of Isar Aerospace should be combined with the creation of a new quarter.
For more than ten years there have been considerations to build on the area that was previously used as a gravel bed. In addition to the location of the rocket company, apartments, green spaces and leisure facilities are also to be built. The previous concept is to be presented to the population soon at an information event.
