Migrants who have only been living in Germany for five years or longer with a Duldung should in future be given the opportunity to stay here legally permanently. Specifically, the people affected should first get a one-year residence permit on a probationary basis.

Criminals should be excluded

During this time, they then have to prove that they have mastered the German language and can secure their livelihood. Men and women who have committed crimes or who have given false information about their identity should not be given this opportunity.

A total of up to 105,000 people whose deportation has so far been repeatedly suspended could benefit from a new regulation. With a change in the law, the so-called chain tolerance would come to an end.

At the same time, the government is planning a stricter course in the deportation of criminals and dangerous people. The plans are now being coordinated with countries and associations.
