The German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has a clear request for volunteer helpers on its website: “It’s your time now,” promises the well-known German organization for civil defense and disaster control. After all, the Ukraine war and natural disasters like the flood on the Ahr have changed some things in politics. The traffic light coalition and, above all, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) want to expand civil defense and disaster control again after years of savings – including the THW. And of course the aid organization needs more people for this.
