FCB deals with Jonathan David

Looking for a new striker, FC Bayern seems to have found an interesting candidate in the French Ligue 1. According to current media reports, the record champions are dealing with Canadian international Jonathan David.

While the name Hugo Ekitike has recently been associated with Bayern, a new striker, David, has appeared on the list of potential Lewandowski successors. As reported by “Sport BILD”, the Munich team targeted the 22-year-old attacker. David is no stranger to the Isar. Reports were already circulating at the beginning of 2020 that FCB had the Canadian on their radar.

Lille are asking €50m for Davies pal Jonathan David

David has been playing in French Ligue 1 at OSC Lille since summer 2020 and scored 19 goals in 48 games last season. The youngster also already has Champions League experience. In the past season he played in eight CL games and scored three goals.

David is contractually tied to Lille until 2025, but the French would be quite willing to sell the striker in the summer. According to transfer insider Manuel Veth, the pain threshold for the attacker is 50 million euros. The current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at 45 million euros. David himself is said to be quite open to the next step in his career and is flirting with a move to a top European club.

It is interesting: David is said to be a big fan of the Bundesliga. Even before moving to Lille, his advisor emphasized that “the Bundesliga comes first” for the striker. In addition, Bayern have an ace up their sleeve in Alphonso Davies. Davies and David know each other very well from the Canadian national team, which certainly won’t do FCB any harm in courting the player.
