FC Schalke: Leroy Sane’s brother trains with the professionals

After his older brother Leroy, will Sidi Sane also make the leap to professional football at FC Schalke 04? In any case, the 18-year-old offensive player is currently training with the pros of the second division.
“We wanted to give Sidi the opportunity to get a taste of what we do,” says Schalke coach Mike Büskens. “We all know that his path has not been easy in recent years because he has been paved by a number of injuries. But overall he has an exciting profile.”
After the brother of the Bayern star had to deal with injuries in recent years, he is injury-free this season and has scored six goals in 15 U19 Bundesliga appearances for the S04 youth team.

At Schalke, based on the impressions in professional training, they probably want to find out whether they will continue to bind Sane to the club. The current contract of the teenager, who has been training at the Knappenschmiede since 2011, expires on June 30th. “We will monitor the situation very closely. You don’t like to let a good player go, but we don’t let ourselves be put under pressure,” explained sporting director Rouven Schröder.
Coach Büskens had a funny anecdote ready. Schalke midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar spoke to him about Sidi Sane in training: “‘Buyo, he looks like Leroy Sane!’ Then I said: ‘That’s his brother too.’ At first he couldn’t believe it.”
