Thomas Müller is only on the bench again
National player Leon Goretzka only recently returned to training after his metacarpal fracture, but is in the starting line-up in Dortmund, as is Dayot Upamecano. The Frenchman was recently suffering from a muscle injury in his left thigh. Tuchel can even allow himself the luxury of doing without Thomas Müller – Jamal Musiala plays Harry Kane behind the top.
As feared, BVB captain Emre Can did not get fit in time and is not in the squad. Mats Hummels in central defense and Niclas Füllkrug in attack are back in their regular places after their cup break, Felix Nmecha is on the bench.
Bayer Leverkusen’s victory at TSG Hoffenheim (3-2) in the afternoon made the top game even more important. Dortmund are now seven points behind the league leaders, Munich five.
