FC Bayern wins 4-1 at SC Freiburg – Goretzka with a goal comeback at the Joker Festival with a mistake

Coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team won the top game at SC Freiburg 4-1 (0-0) and only needs a maximum of twelve points from six games for the tenth championship in a row. It was initially unclear whether the change error had an impact on the game rating.

In the hot phase of the season, Freiburg, as the clear underdog, was fighting for important points in the fight for international places. While the best Munich offensive scene in the first half resulted from a corner kick – Tanguy Nianzou headed just over the box (13th) – it was at least an opportunity for the home side. Lucas Höler narrowly missed after a pass from Maximilian Eggestein from five meters out (18′).

In the second round, Munich’s most dangerous action again resulted from a set piece. Kimmich brought a free-kick from the left half-field sharply into the centre, Mark Flekken jumped past the ball in his attempt to defend and Goretzka headed in from six meters and converted to Munich’s lead (58th).

Streich reacted to the deficit and brought on Nils Petersen, who had previously extended his contract, in the 63rd minute. Just 17 seconds after coming on, he thanked his coach and scored the 1-1 equaliser. Christian Günter passed the ball briefly into the right half of the penalty area to his team-mate, who converted it low into the left corner from 15 meters (64′).

Nine minutes later, the scene played out almost identically on the other side. Julian Nagelsmann brought Serge Gnabry into play for Benjamin Pavard and thus brought in the opening goal again. Lucas Hernández crossed the ball from the left into the middle, Nico Schlotterbeck misjudged the center and Gnabry came to the end free-standing from nine meters and converted flat into the right corner – 33 seconds after being substituted on (73rd).

In the final phase, the guests added the third goal. Dayot Upamecano played a wide ball into the offensive to Kingsley Coman, who went into the middle from the left, took a shot from 16 meters and hit the bottom left corner (83′). Flekken didn’t look very good doing it.

After the confusion surrounding the Coman substitution, substitute Marcel Sabitzer made it 4-1 in added time with his debut goal for Bayern. After a missed chance, Gnabry fitted the ex-Leipziger in the backcourt, who pushed flat into the empty goal from 15 meters (90 + 6).
