Tuchel explained at the press conference on Thursday afternoon: “Eric Dier is now a specialist as a central defender. He also played a lot of games at six in the Premier League. Most recently he played in the interior defence, where he can play both positions and also in the back three.”
In Munich, Dier will meet his long-time Spurs friend Harry Kane (30, played together at Tottenham from 2014 to 2023). The two have also often played together for the English national team, including at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Sports director Christoph Freund (46) said after the move: “We are happy that we were able to sign Eric Dier. He has played a role in our considerations for this transfer period for a long time. Eric will be a valuable part of our defense.”

On Saturday he started in the cold in Munich before flying with the team to the short training camp in Faro (Portugal) on Sunday afternoon for four days!
