FC Bayern – Oliver Kahn on possible contract extension for Niklas Süle: “There are certain limits”
Niklas Süle’s contract expires next summer, and FC Bayern would like to extend it. However, you don’t want to act without limits.
Bayern Munich’s CEO Oliver Kahn commented on Niklas Süle’s contract situation and emphasized that the record champions will not extend the central defender’s working paper at any cost.
“That always depends on what the player is asking for,” said Kahn regarding a possible extension of Süles Sky 90. He added: “At David Alaba we made it clear that we have certain limits.”
The negotiations with Alaba about a new contract had probably failed due to the Austrian’s financial demands, last summer finally moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Bayern: Niklas Süle in focus at Chelsea?
Süle’s contract expires at the end of June next year – if he does not renew, Bayern threatens to leave him without a transfer. Kahn described Süle as “very reliable and very, very stable”. Nevertheless, one always has to weigh up “whether we can find a basis where it can work for both sides”. Especially with regard to the economic difficulties in the course of the corona pandemic, Bavaria is also forced to include “the overall situation in all considerations”.
Süle himself, who has been playing in Munich since 2017 and is mostly part of the permanent staff this season, should meanwhile, according to media reports, tend to say goodbye. Chelsea FC in particular is considered to be interested in the 26-year-old national player.
