Bayern Munich’s young star Jamal Musiala (18) has in an interview with the BBC reveal that his mother still drives him to training every day. The offensive player also spoke about his first days with the record champions, his youth in England and his friendship with BVB star Jude Bellingham.
Musiala has been of legal age since February 26, 2021, but the parents’ taxi is still responsible for the trip to Säbener Strasse for Bayern training. “My mother still drives me to training and picks me up again,” he revealed. “That’s nice, but I’m getting my driver’s license right now and should have it in a couple of weeks.”

In 2019, Musiala moved from the youth team at Chelsea to the Bayern U17 team. It took some time to get used to it, especially with the pros: “At first I was very nervous. If you look at all the star players: seeing Robert Lewandowski regularly is not normal. But after a while it becomes everyday life and meanwhile they have become something like my friends. “
Thiago initially impressed him in training. “His passing technique was incredible,” he said of the Spaniard, who now plays for Liverpool. “But there are so many top players. At Lewandowski it was his graduation and all that, or Joshua Kimmich’s technique. It’s all great!”

Musiala was born in Stuttgart and played for both German and English youth teams. At the age of seven he moved from Germany to the island, first playing for Southamptons youth and then for Chelsea FC. “It was a big step to move from Germany to England, but I was ready,” he said. “I didn’t hesitate, just wanted to play football.” But here, too, he was nervous: “I didn’t speak the language very well. I learned English in six months.”
Nevertheless, he decided on the German senior team. “Sometimes I didn’t want to think about it because it was a tough decision,” he revealed. “In the end I thought that was the best for me and that I would feel most comfortable with it. I chose Germany and can’t look back.” He is sure that he made the right decision, “although England reached the final at the European Championship. I don’t regret it.”
At the Three Lions he is still very good friends with Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund: “We have always been good friends. We shared a room at every England camp. It’s crazy when you think how far we’ve come Things are going very well for him too, he scored in the Champions League and also played in the European Championship. “
A kind of rivalry has now developed on the pitch: “Before we play against each other, we say hello and so on, but it stays that way so that we can concentrate on the game.”
Musiala has played ten competitive games this season and recorded four goals and three assists. Coach Julian Nagelsmann recently promised him further missions right from the start.
