FC Bayern – Mino Raiola reveals: Matthijs de Ligt almost landed in Munich

In 2019, Matthijs de Ligt moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Juventus Turin. The Dutchman could easily have landed at Bavaria.
Mino Raiola, advisor to Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, has revealed that his protégé was also a serious issue at Bayern Munich before moving to Turin.
“Do you actually know that we almost brought Matthijs de Ligt to Munich?” Raiola asked the reporter in an interview with Sport 1. He added: “We had very good talks. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out in the end.”

After his outstanding 2018/19 season with Ajax, in which the Dutch made it to the Champions League semi-finals, de Ligt finally moved to Juve for 85.5 million euros. The 22-year-old Dutchman is still under contract with the Italians until 2024.
Raiola also commented on a possible interest of FC Bayern in Paul Pogba, whose contract with Manchester United expires at the end of June next year. When asked whether the German record champions had already made an offer for the French midfield star, Raiola replied: “Not yet, but maybe it will come tomorrow. You have to ask Bayern that. We’ll deal with everything.”
In any case, Bavaria was the only German club that could afford Pogba, Raiola said. “I think we’ll know more in two months.”
