Ex-DFB and Bayern captain Philipp Lahm is impressed by the Munich team’s new coach and can well imagine him with the national team.

Long-time Bayern player Philipp Lahm has given new FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann a positive interim report. “The start was very, very good. That brings calm and also gives the coach security. From the outside it looks very good that he understands the team and they understand him,” said Lahm der image.

The move from RB Leipzig in the summer to the German record champions was, according to Lahm, the “logical step” for the 34-year-old Nagelsmann. “After Hoffenheim and Leipzig there aren’t that many clubs that represent progress,” said Lahm.

And Nagelsmann’s next step? When asked whether he believed Nagelsmann would become a national coach, Lahm replied: “Yes, I can imagine. But it will take some time.”

Nagelsmann succeeded Hansi Flick at Bayern in the summer, who succeeded national coach Joachim Löw at the DFB and signed a contract there until 2024. Nagelsmann’s working paper at FC Bayern even runs until 2026.
