Bayern have to deal with painful defeats and Kane no longer scores as usual. Coach Tuchel points out a discrepancy – and a great deal of trust in one of Kane’s colleagues.

To the form of top attacker Harry Kane is not worried about Thomas Tuchel in difficult days for FC Bayern Munich.

“Harry takes care of himself. He doesn’t need me. He is dissatisfied with how he is involved in the game. We are too. I have rarely experienced such a discrepancy between the training impressions compared to the games,” said Tuchel, describing his observations about the 100 million striker before the away game in the Bundesliga (5.30 p.m./DAZN) at VfL Bochum.

“The way he scores in training and uses the balls. That’s unbelievable. That’s world class. But then we rarely find him in the game,” said Tuchel. Nevertheless, Kane behaves “like a captain”.

Kane seems ponderous

0:3 in Leverkusen, 0:1 in Rome – despite his personality, Kane’s goal machine no longer works in the misery as it did in the first half of the season. The 24-time Bundesliga goalscorer this season seems sluggish and is suddenly barely involved in the offensive game. The England international scored three times after the winter break, which he was not used to in the Premier League.

The week was much more difficult for defensive colleague Dayot Upamecano than it was for Kane. The French international acted incorrectly at the cold start after injury in Leverkusen, and in Rome he caused the defeat due to a foul penalty. To make matters worse, he was shown a red card and will miss the second leg at home against Lazio on March 5th.

Tuchel has confidence in Upamecano

“It was a bitter week for him. It’s pointless to pick out individuals. We’re not strong enough as a team. We have to get better at it,” said Tuchel. The central defender still has “unrestricted trust” in him. Upamecano will probably also play in Bochum.

“Upa is ambitious in training and in games and prefers to build up the game in addition to defensive work. That’s sometimes too much of a good thing. But it comes from a good drive. We trust him,” said Tuchel. Also in the starting line-up against VfL Bochum?
