FC Bayern in the individual review: Lewandowski causes panic attacks – sport

Is a goalkeeper who loves excursions and so he was also happy about the road trip to the Ruhr area, his birthplace is a few kilometers from the Dortmund stadium. Had chosen a bright orange wardrobe, which bit pretty with the yellow Borussia. Cleared twice far before its natural habitat, because some in the stadium shouted “You’ll never walk alone”. Then there was no chance against Brandt’s intrusion and looked so perplexed that even his notorious complaint arm froze. Beaten 2-2 by Haaland’s precision ball, there was again nothing to complain about.

Loves the central defender position above all, but as such, coach Nagelsmann doesn’t love him that much. Isn’t always successful on his excursions as a right-back because he sometimes lacks the pace. Tried an artificial shot with the left after a corner, but it flew in the direction of the BVB fan shop. On his side without much shine and ultimately at 2: 2 only spectators. Keep working on becoming an explosive full-back as his impetus remained manageable this time too.

Should, in conjunction with the defense colleagues, stop the excursions of a certain Haaland, which is about as easy as bringing an Australian road train to a standstill in the outback. Fought some running duels with the Norwegian, in which enormous centrifugal forces came to light. Didn’t come out as a winner from all of them, but that happens when sparring with Haaland. At 2: 2 you have to reproach him for acute carelessness: cleared the ball with his chest directly to the opponent, that looked of course stupid. Rattled with Brandt at the header, which not only looked stupid, but was really dangerous. So all in all it was more like “comme ci, comme ca” that evening.

Bavaria’s most dogged duel narrowly escaped a trip to prison and can now concentrate fully on chaining others. But that was only tolerably successful, especially at 0: 1: He ran back and forth through the sixteenth and ultimately straddled Brandt in vain. Apparently he had decided to become the master of the return pass and fed Neuer cheerfully with feeds. Then there was a tête-à-tête with Haaland and finally an eleven-worthy scene with Reus – but the whistle did not come. Left the field injured in a phase when someone hurt himself almost every minute.

Because we’re talking about excursions: His journey from his birthplace Buduburam in Ghana across the Canadian prairie to the Bavarian team is known to be a Cinderella story. Could have continued his journey at 0-1, but fatally lagged behind all Dortmunders and was taken by surprise. Responsible for a few holes on his side and generally had problems in reverse, as his reluctance to make 2-2 proved. On the other hand, a win to the front: rapid sprint including a cross pass before the 2: 1.

Exceptionally made a trip to the starting XI. Unfortunately he is injured far too often to justify the estimated 41.5 million euros it once cost. But this time there was a need, so Nagelsmann dug him out of the moth box. Considered strategic tasks in midfield, which he solved passably. Missed Reus a French foot-sweep for whom others already saw a card. In the hot phase, however, could not give the Bayern game the calm that Joshua Kimmich (excursion into quarantine) usually exudes. And not hit the orphaned Dortmund goal in the final phase. Kimmich would certainly have done better too.

Bochumer Jung ‘, heartbeat made of steel, you know – of course, that someone like that won’t let his patellar tendon stop you on an excursion to Dortmund. Just got fit, otherwise there would have been a shortage of staff in the center. Showed his offensive gene with several forays into the danger zone, cleverly combined with Müller and defied the Pöhler weather in the pot. In general, he practically had his body with him, which helped the Bayern game extremely. Showed astonishing resilience, is even more irreplaceable than usual in Kimmich’s absence.

Dribbled happily through autumn, but now it’s winter, a velvet foot like him first has to adjust the technology and get up to operating temperature. Busy Dortmund’s left side with its usual mix of instinct, speed and unpredictability. Benefited at 2: 1 from the huge mess of BVB and his own responsiveness. Proved that he is truly not a fair-weather footballer, but rather one for all situations. His visits are still elitist even after his heart surgery.

It is always at operating temperature, regardless of whether it’s imperial or bad weather, whether it’s Dortmund or a Christmas party at “de rodn Waginga”. Hummels stole the ball at 1: 1 like a basketball player with a “steal” and then put Lewandowski on a fastbreak hit with “assist” – a real mentality goal in the running and head duel with Hummels. According to established knowledge, he is still a footballer, after all, he always somehow had his unfathomable knuckles in the game. After this game, the Waginga would say: A dog eats!

If some still think he’s a fanatic, those days are definitely over. Has long since acquired a new authority as the ten and has recently decided to play games. Popped a long-range shot of dangerous sharpness just past, made his rounds through the middle and was always trying to drive. Didn’t always find the right way after the break and was surprised that some things passed him by. Then, despite all authority, had to get out when he was finally hard to find.

His business trip to Paris ended with a disappointing second place at the Ballon d’Or during the week. Second? He doesn’t actually know that and so it can be assumed that he will score 50 goals in one season in the near future. Shot number 15 as dry as a law enforcement officer. His presence caused panic attacks in the BVB cover, which sometimes just bolted the balls away from him. Put all his freezing cold into the 911 to make it 3-2, goal number 16 of the season, and at the latest then it was clear: Are they still quite comfortable at the Ballon d’Or?

Serge Gnabry came for Sané when he ran a little empty. Jamal Musiala was allowed in and for Goretzka Niklas Süle replaced Hernandez when he was hurt.
