FC Bayern in the individual review: Kimmich does not make friends – sport

In a game like this, there is usually only one moment for the Bayern goalkeeper when he decides the outcome of the game. In Köpenick it was the 75th minute for Manuel Neuer. Leweling stormed towards him, cleverly chose the short corner, but Neuer prevented the Berliners’ second goal with a very strong reaction. Otherwise he did what he does in such games, raise his arm to complain, intercept balls and hit far and precisely forward.

In a game like this, there is usually only one moment for a Bayern defender to decide the outcome of the game. In Köpenick it was also the 75th minute for Upamecano. He lost the ball on the flank against Unions Leweling when he would not stop receiving the ball. But Upamecano was lucky and Manuel Neuer behind him, behold: the one moment of Manuel Neuer. Nevertheless, the scene was exemplary for Upamecano’s sometimes bumpy performance.

Hardly noticed what a reassuring statement for a Bayern defender in such a match, see Upamecano.

Was correct when Union freed itself and tried to counter. At the end he tried more often to get involved at the front. But many of his teammates were already busy despairing of the dense Union chains.

Was a stumped winger in the first half, like Coman on the right. Often got stuck, but then got a little more purposeful. But many opportunities for the strikers didn’t come about in the end due to his efforts.

Did a lot not to find any friends in Köpenick that day. Immediately after the Berlin lead, he shot the ball into the net to equalize, as if that was something to do. A little later he attracted attention with a violent foul in the middle of the game, which earned him a yellow card and from then on many whistles. His whole gesture: “I don’t want to be your friend at all, I want to win here.” But he couldn’t think of enough for that either. Substituted in the 62nd minute.

Once again an important clearer. Still got his body or a foot in between when Union Berlin attempted a counterattack. Was already there, or came rushing. And often quickly initiated one of the next attempts by Bayern, which in the end too often ended in nothing.

Kingsley Coman

The winger can make wonderful hooks with the ball. Left, right, left, right. Sometimes left, left. Very fast, with confusing body illusions. But what use is it if his opponent Julian Ryerson stands still or gets up again. In the end he always had the ball. Coman often got stuck and soon seemed as clueless as his coach Julian Nagelsmann after the game when he was asked why Bayern hadn’t thought of more.

Jamal Musiala

If anyone had any good ideas at Bayern that day, it was Jamal Musiala. Even in distress with great ease when he barely touched the ball and yet opened up paths that were previously not visible to everyone. Dropped, bounced or stuck the ball through, like in the 36th minute when he gave Leroy Sané the best chance of the game. After being substituted in the 62nd minute, Bayern lacked inspiration.

The player who created the most of Bayern’s few chances. He even finished fine. But that would probably only be a good sign if goals came out as well. It was noticeable how Sané resisted robustly until the end, also at the back when Union tried to play his counterattack.

Where he should develop his game and be there for goals, it was often too narrow that day: in the middle. Initially got a few balls from which he could make something. So he often left the middle, looking for spaces where his teammates were constantly running to. Which meant: He ran a lot and still the game passed him. He almost made sure that this game ended the way Bayern games often do: with a win in added time. Set a precise header that Union goalkeeper Rönnow just fended off.

Exceptionally, for the first time in this Bundesliga season, came Thomas Müller only from the bank. But could do as little as those who were also substituted Ryan Gravenberch and Serge Gnabry. The latter collectively missed a chance: Gravenberch fitted a little imprecisely, so Gnabry missed the goal. For the last few minutes came too Leon Goretzkafor the first time in the Bundesliga after his knee surgery.
