If the Qatari ambassador to Germany has anything to do with it, FC Bayern has achieved something that politicians have failed to do. Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani was sitting in a room in the Allianz Arena on Monday evening, with the stands and lawn behind him. He was a guest at a panel discussion on the German record champions’ Qatar sponsorship; but he would have preferred to be a guest in the Bundestag on the same day. The Sports Committee held a hearing there on the occasion of the World Cup in November. “I would have been happy if I had been invited,” said Al-Thani.
