Junior Firpo spent two years at Barca, one of them under Ronald Koeman. He didn’t get along with the Dutchman at all.
Leeds defender Junior Firpo, in the service of FC Barcelona from 2019 to 2021, has settled again with ex-Barca coach Ronald Koeman.
Firpo attacked Koeman shortly after he left last summer, and now he criticized the Dutchman’s way of working: “I lost my enthusiasm for football and realized how important family is. Koeman had coached Barca from August 2020 to October 2021, before he was fired for failure. Koeman’s accusation that Firpo contaminated the dressing room is still a problem for the 25-year-old left-back: “I don’t know what it means for me to contaminate the group. I assume it relates to my attitude. I know not how a young man who has just arrived can contaminate a team that has won everything and has played together all of their lives. “
Firpo moved from Real Betis to Barcelona in 2019, but was never able to establish himself as a regular with the Catalans. Last summer he therefore moved to Leeds United in the Premier League for 15 million euros.
