Fathers in Bavaria rarely stay with sick children – Bavaria

According to a survey by the health insurance company KKH, Bavarian fathers bring up the rear when it comes to caring for sick children. In the first half of the year, they accounted for 19.5 percent of the children’s sick days, as the KKH announced on Monday. This is a decrease of 1.2 percentage points and the lowest value of the 15 federal states examined. The KKH had not submitted any data for Bremen because the number of cases was too low.

The nationwide average was a male share of 23.1 percent. The leaders were Thuringia with 28.7 and Hamburg with 28 percent. The second lowest proportion was found in Baden-Württemberg at 20.4 percent.

For the statistics, the KKH evaluated almost 100,000 child sick days nationwide among its approximately 1.6 million insured persons. The figures can be distorted under certain circumstances, since the members of a statutory health insurance company are not necessarily representative of society as a whole, but trends and developments can certainly be read from them.
