With a ceremony in front of the White House, Joe Biden wanted to celebrate the new, slightly stricter gun law. But that didn’t go far enough for the father of a shooting victim – and disrupted the US President’s speech.

The Secret Service was about to compliment the man out. But Joe Biden whistled back at the bodyguards and let him continue. It was the father of a gun violence victim who interrupted US President Joe Biden’s speech. Biden was speaking in the garden of the White House about a reform for more protection against gun violence in the United States when the man loudly intervened. He was apparently Manuel Oliver, who lost his son in a 2018 massacre at a high school in Parkland, Florida. He was reportedly calling for tougher gun laws. After the speech was interrupted, he was escorted out by security personnel.

Father announced his action on TV

Senators involved in the law and relatives of victims were invited to the event, at which Biden praised a reform passed about two weeks ago. The disruptor had already announced in an interview with the CNN broadcaster that morning that he would – if he had the opportunity – tell Biden that the law was not enough. He also criticized that the event had the character of a celebration. “There was no reason to call this event what it is called now.”

The new law represents a slight tightening of the generally rather lax gun laws in the United States. The reform provides for more intensive screening of gun buyers under the age of 21. In addition, it is about extending laws from states to be able to take weapons from potential threats. Illegal arms trafficking should be punishable at the federal level. In addition, billions are to flow into mental health care and anti-violence programs. Additional funds are also earmarked for the safety of schools. The ban on assault rifles demanded by Democrats is missing from the law.
