Every few years, Porsche invites you to the Laguna Raceway near Monterey to celebrate the Motorsports Reunion as the Zuffenhausen-based company’s biggest sporting event. An exclusive special series once again ensures the right party atmosphere – this time the Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport, which costs over a million euros. The fuel is bio-ethanol.

80,000 Porsche fans are expected to attend the motorsport spectacle on one of the most beautiful race tracks in the USA this weekend and 77 customers can look forward to well beyond the party weekend. Anyone who is lucky and has the necessary money of 1.13 million euros can treat themselves to the special series
Porsche 911 GT3 R racing one of the most exclusive 911s ever. The R racing has no place on public roads, as the roaring small series lacks such road approval. “The new Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport probably offers the most original form of driving a Neunelfer-based racing car,” emphasizes Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport, “it practically produces goosebumps on an assembly line and combines the finest motorsport technology with that typical of Porsche Design language. With its extraordinary performance, the 911 GT3 R racing makes the history of our brand tangible and audible.”

The technical basis for R racing is the well-known 911 GT3 R, whose six-cylinder boxer engine received an increase in power to 456 kW / 620 hp. The naturally aspirated engine with its 4.2 liter displacement rotates at a maximum of 9,400 rpm. The additional power comes not least from the engine being designed for E25 fuels such as bio-ethanol or refuel as a regeneratively produced fuel, which enable almost CO2-neutral combustion. The pistons and camshafts specially developed for GT3 R racing increase performance, especially when running on E25 fuel; However, they can also be operated with conventional fuels.

The design of the 77 small series is no less spectacular than its drive, because apart from the roof and front hood, all body parts were newly developed. The racing car grew noticeably in length and width, making it significantly beefier. Rear wing, spoiler, flaps and sills – everything is out of this world. The hot Brumos-Porsche 935/77, winner at Daytona in 1978, sends greetings. The limited-edition Porsche 911 GT3 R racing car is initially offered with a bodyshell painted in agate gray metallic, along with carbon body parts. If desired, there is a choice of seven colors for painting the carbon outer skin, which are being offered ex works for a motorsport vehicle for the first time, including star ruby or signal orange.

The generous engine power is transmitted to the rear axle via a sequential six-speed claw gearshift. Gear changes are carried out using steering wheel paddles that control an electronic shift drum actuator. The chassis comes from the GT3 variant of the Porsche 911. There are double wishbones at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear – each with adjustable shock absorbers and special Michelin racing tires. An aluminum monoblock racing brake system with titanium carrier plates also ensures maximum deceleration. A particularly light 117 liter tank ensures endurance during racing. Instead of heavy air conditioning, the racing edition is equipped with the well-known seat cooling concept of the 911 GT3 R. The curb weight should be reduced to 1,240 kilograms. A sports exhaust system with a centrally positioned double tailpipe ensures the right sound. If that sounds too loud for you, two quieter versions with silencers and catalytic converters are available for use on race tracks with noise restrictions.
