Faroe Islands: The magic of the islands helps you dream away

We explore the magic of the 18 rough rocky islands in the North Atlantic between Norway and Iceland.

The following story is told in Kirkjubøur, a village on the Faroe island of Streymoy, where a few dozen houses cling to the hills like sheep in a storm: A beautiful girl from the village once drove to the city, where she was struck by an obtrusive man was desired. To get rid of him, she told him where she lives. In my village, she said, you’ll find me in a black wooden house with red window frames and a grass roof. Later, the man stood at a loss in Kirkjubøur, because almost every little house there looks just like the girl described: black wood, red window frames, grass roof.
