Farmers Union – Farmers Earn More – Economy

The earnings situation of German farmers has brightened noticeably. In the 2021/22 financial year, which ended at the end of June, farm profits rose to an average of 79,700 euros, as the farmers’ association announced on Thursday in Berlin. That was an average of 26,200 euros more per company than in the previous year. The main reason was higher producer prices for milk, arable crops and beef as a result of a global shortage of supplies since autumn 2021. With the Russian war against Ukraine, this development on the markets intensified in the spring and summer of 2022. Farmer President Joachim Rukwied was cautious about the situation. The recovery after a previous dry spell is now “urgent” so that farmers can cope with increased market and climate risks.
