Farmers’ protests in Bavaria: Heroes in the stable – Bavaria

Since time immemorial, no professional group in Bavaria has been as intensively celebrated as agriculture is currently. The Free State even provides two positions specifically for this purpose: Hubert Aiwanger (FW) and Michaela Kaniber (CSU). Wherever a farmer holds up a sign, the two are there to praise the heroic work of the farmers. Last Saturday Kaniber was once again at such an “insane demonstration”, this time in Sonthofen, “so friendly in a wonderful circle with outstanding farmers”. On her demo tour she is “extremely overwhelmed”, feels “pure goosebumps” and calls out to the demonstrators: “You are amazing!”

You can almost feel jealous if you don’t keep pigs yourself. When has a member of the state government ever given a tremolo speech on the electrical trade? Dear electricians, without you we would all be sitting in the dark and having to eat cold ravioli, and there would be no AI because the largest computer in the world is also plugged into the socket. Dear roofers, without you we would all be in a wet place, because even in the most beautiful state in the world it rains every now and then, which, as we all know, is the fault of the traffic light government. Dear gas-water experts, without your heroic efforts, we would be up to our necks in wastewater. The list could be extended indefinitely: teachers, pizza delivery people, police officers, train drivers… and yes, even journalists. They all want to be seen and valued more, immediately! Otherwise it’ll crash!

But no, the state government is showering all its love on the farmers while barking at the teachers to work more. One is slightly led to suspect that the CSU is only protesting so zealously with the farmers so that no one notices that it has appointed a total of 20 agriculture ministers in the federal government and in Bavaria since the end of the war. So it could be that the CSU – as long as it hasn’t just warmed armchairs in the ministries – bears at least a very minimal, subatomic share of the blame for the situation in agriculture. But just such a thought is an impudence.

On Wednesday Minister Kaniber was at the Rossmarkt in Berching. It was certainly a fantastic event.
