We expect that the legislative package will be rejected in the Federal Council, where our Prime Minister is a member, by February 2nd at the latest. Until then, we want to keep the peace.

“Land creates connection” advises on further actions

After the rally in Berlin, political leaders must be given time to deliver acceptable results, said Krawczyk. side The association therefore has no further such actions planned until the beginning of February. Krawczyk explained that the farmers’ association would put forward compromise proposals. In order to counter-finance agricultural subsidies, savings are possible in areas of development aid, but also in investment programs for agriculture – for example in converting animal husbandry.

Unlike the state farmers’ association, the head of the farmers’ association “Land creates connection”, Robert Erdmann, announced further protests until Monday at the request of MDR SACHSEN. He was not yet able to name specific actions as they were still in the process of voting.

Things also got tough in Chemnitz: by 11 a.m. several vehicles were blocking the intersection of Brückenstrasse/Bahnhofstrasse/Augustusburger Strasse in the city center. Cars were allowed through every 15 minutes. According to its own information, Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) had prepared for “changes or restrictions in scheduled services”.

Several vehicle parades were planned through Chemnitz city center until the afternoon. The police said they were in contact with the organizers of the protests. “Cooperation talks were held with the aim of making it clear that so-called full blockades are not permitted.”

Blockades in Vogtland, Erzgebirge and Upper Lusatia

In Vogtland, the A72 motorway entrances were closed between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the closures interrupted every two hours. The same applies on the B115 in Niesky until 9:30 p.m. The Görlitz District Office, as the assembly authority, pointed out that public road transport, buses and emergency vehicles have free passage.

Leipzig demo combines farmers’ protest with climate protection

Fridays for Future in Leipzig also called for a demonstration together with some agricultural businesses. According to their own statements, those responsible were concerned with demonstrating for a “fair and sustainable climate policy”. At the same time, they said, they wanted to send a signal against the right.

Tones critical of capitalism and the desire for a system change in agriculture could be read on the banners at the demonstration in Leipzig.

The exits on the A4 in the Bautzen and Görlitz area and in the Erzgebirge on the A72 were blocked, said Robert Erdmann from “Land creates connection”. According to police information, there were, among other things, short-term closures on the A4 at the Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Weißenberg, Görlitz and Kodersdorf entrances and on the A72 at the Hartenstein and Chemnitz-Röhrsdorf entrances. In the Meißen district, farmers blocked the entrance to a logistics and food warehouse on Thursday morning. In Chemnitz there was a tractor parade in the afternoon under the motto “Farmers’ protest against tax increases”.

Farmers are dissatisfied with politics

The farmers’ protests are directed against planned subsidy cuts by the federal government. The tax relief on agricultural diesel is to be gradually abolished. The fact that the traffic light coalition has withdrawn part of its cuts plans is not enough for the farmers.

Meanwhile, there is increasing movement in federal politics in the dispute over agricultural cuts. Finance Minister and FDP politician Christian Lindner is now also seeking a conversation.
