In 2014, organic farmer Gottfried met his wife Martina in the popular program “Bauer sucht Frau”. Now she died at the age of just 55.
Organic farmer Gottfried found his great love Martina in 2014 through the dating show “Bauer sucht Frau”. The two were immediately inseparable, five years later they tied the knot. Now Gottfried has lost his Martina. She was just 55 years old.
Just ten minutes after getting to know each other, the farmer was sure that he had found his great love in Martina, as he revealed in an interview with Promiflash in 2019 after the wedding. “Another ten women could have stood for me. I just said to her: ‘That’s her!'”

Gottfried himself published the sad news of his wife’s death on Facebook, according to RTL. Accordingly, she died last December: “My beloved Martina lost the tough battle against cancer,” said the farmer. This is the second time Gottfried has lost a beloved woman in his life.
Gottfried and Martina shared a similar fate
When Gottfried and Martina met, they both shared a similar fate. Martina could not take off her wedding ring after the death of her husband. Gottfried, on the other hand, had lost his wife after 30 years and picked up one of her earrings. They didn’t have to explain each other and understood each other. “Gottfried didn’t have to explain himself, looks were enough. Both have lost a partner and loved ones, I think that connects a lot,” said moderator Inka Bause at the time.
Thanks to Martina, the farmer was able to open his heart again and found his laughter again. Now Gottfried has to go through life alone again – a message that should make all “farmer seeks wife” fans sad.
