Fariba Adelkhah, researcher detained for four years, returns to France

She is now safe. Fariba Adelkhah’s support committee announced her return to France, eight months after her release from prison. The Franco-Irianian researcher was imprisoned by Iran on June 5, 2019. “She was welcomed on her arrival at the airport by Béatrice Hibou, president of her support committee, and Mathias Vicherat, director of Sciences-po” , according to a press release from Sciences-po.

“After so many years of deprivation of freedom, what an emotion to finally welcome our colleague Fariba, symbol of our fights for academic freedom! I solemnly thank the French authorities for their tireless action, the support committee and all those who worked for his release and I am delighted to soon see Fariba back at Sciences-po, his home,” rejoiced Mathias Vicherat , in the press release.
