Farewell to the ZDF “Sportstudio”
Dunja Hayali competes on the goal wall herself
Dunja Hayali is no longer the moderator of “das current sportstudio” on ZDF.

In 2018, Dunja Hayali worked for “Sportstudio” for the first time. Now she celebrated her farewell and even competed on the goal wall.
The ZDF presenter Dunja Hayali (48) moderated “the current sport studio” for the last time on Saturday, May 13, 2023. In her farewell show she was even allowed to compete on the legendary goal wall herself – her studio guest Peter Fischer (67), President of Eintracht Frankfurt, gave up the journalist.
Unfortunately, Hayali failed to convert any of her six attempts. Her ironic comment: “It’s only the last show.” The journalist said goodbye to the iconic sports program after a total of 41 episodes, but will continue to remain loyal to ZDF with “heute jounal” and “morning magazine”, among other things.
In a Twitter post on May 11, she shows moments from the time she was on the show and announced her farewell. From August 2018 to May 2023, she moderated 41 issues of “the current sport studio”. She wrote in the post: “It’s not easy for me because I’ve really taken the show and crew into my (sports) heart for the last five years…”
The 48-year-old added: “But three programs are – for different reasons – one too many, at least for me. That’s why I say ‘bye’ after 41 programs and will fully focus on ‘moma’ and ‘heute journal’ focus.”
She was “grateful for this interesting, varied, challenging and above all enriching time”. The moderator also thanked the guests and crew of the show in the post. “Well then, on to the last lap. After 90 minutes plus a bit of overdraft it’s over,” she writes at the end.
Back to “heute journal”
Since the end of February 2023, Dunja Hayali has strengthened the moderation team of “heute journal”, which she led as co-moderator from 2007 to 2010. She has also been on the “ZDF Morgenmagazin” since 2007, and has been the main presenter here since 2010.
In 2018 she took over the moderation of “das aktuell sportstudio”, alternating with Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (57), Jochen Breyer (40) and Sven Voss (46).
