It doesn’t always have to be Dolce Vita, German Vita can also be fun. Many families prefer to let their children build their sandcastles on Germany’s beaches than anywhere else when on holiday. The Hamburg travel specialist Travanto has evaluated the places where families prefer to vacation – the first three places are taken by islands in the Baltic Sea. Rügen leads the list of most popular vacation spots at families.
In the two cheapest travel destinations in the top 10, a family of four can, on average, rent accommodation for a week for less than 1000 euros. According to the evaluation, it is cheapest on Fehmarn, the most expensive accommodation is on Norderney. If you want to spend your holidays there with your family, you have to pay around 500 euros more for the overnight stays alone.
To determine the most popular travel destinations for family holidays, the Google search volume for holiday locations on the North and Baltic Seas was examined in combination with the keyword “family vacation”. The prices were determined on the basis of around 55,000 holiday accommodations, the median prices on the North Sea and Baltic Sea per week and for four people in the summer months of July to August 2023.
