Three individuals, suspected of having passed themselves off as police officers, were arrested on Sunday in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). It was two real peacekeepers who made it possible to stop the trio: on returning to their home, in the middle of the night, these police officers noticed that an elderly couple, in their vehicle, was being checked by colleagues… whom they absolutely did not know.
Quickly, they realize that these three young people wear fake armbands, fake weapons and handcuffs to their belts. Two then fled, under the dumbfounded eyes of the couple, before being arrested shortly after.
Ball guns, fake armbands, a walkie-talkie and flashing lights were found in and on their vehicles, report police services of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Placed in police custody, they admitted to having acted “out of stupidity”, without any intention “to derive any benefit from it.”
