After his controversial comments about knockout drops, Faisal Kawusi withdrew from the public eye for a brief period. At a comedy performance in Oldenburg, he was now confronted with criticism.

He got involved in the debate about Joyce Ilg’s controversial Instagram post and received a shit storm for it himself. Ilg wrote the following caption for a selfie with Luke Mockridge: “Did any of you find eggs here? I only got a few knockout drops.” The reactions to it were mostly scathing. Ilg also received criticism from colleagues and fans.

When songwriter Silvi Carlsson commented that she herself had had knockout drops mixed into the drink, Faisal Kawusi replied: “Next time I’ll increase the dose, I promise.”

He then published a tirade against his “haters” on Instagram and emphasized that art knows no borders.

A short break, a television appearance and a longer video statement later, Kawusi had to face criticism of his actions again – in one of his comedy appearances.

He is ready for dialogue

There, a group of people protested in front of the door, as the comedian says on Instagram. “Yesterday at the show in Oldenburg there was a demonstration against me. They threw tomatoes and eggs at my viewers and my team. When I heard that, I was shocked,” he writes on the platform. His advisors recommended that he not go out and “run away with a trick” after his show. But he didn’t want that.

“I didn’t want to hide, I’m just not like that. I came barefoot to symbolize that I come in peace,” he said. He is still ready for a dialogue, but opposes the “cancel culture”. What exactly Kawusi means when he talks about it is not entirely clear. After all, he continues to tour and perform his comedy shows. Name: “Politically Incorrect”.
