Fairphone 4 test: the green and modular smartphone becomes more convincing

The Fairphone 4 obviously does not box in the same category as its competitors in the same price segment, but it is not ridiculous either. Indeed, the presence of a Snapdragon 750G coupled with 6 GB of RAM (and 128 GB of storage on our model) allows it to offer a fluid and convincing experience.

On our Viser test protocol, it obtains an overall score of 90. An honorable score, which allows you to juggle your applications – within reason – without suffering slowdowns.

We also note that it is a little more efficient than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Oppo Find X3 Lite. These smartphones are certainly much more affordable, but they both convinced us when they went to the lab. The Fairphone 4 even gets an in-game rating of 83, averaging around 46 fps on our test.

It is therefore possible to enjoy some of the games from the Play Store in respectable conditions, and especially much better than with previous generations of Fairphone. We are clearly not dealing with a smartphone designed for gaming, but being able to launch a game from time to time is very pleasant. Carried by its Snapdragon 765G, the Xiaomi mi 11 lite on the other hand takes off.

Since SoCs are very complex pieces of engineering, it is not possible to change them. If this Snapdragon 750G does the job perfectly for all current tasks, we would have appreciated a slightly more powerful model to see apps or games coming serenely in 3 or 4 years. As it stands, we can wonder if it will keep pace, while our uses are changing very quickly.

Our performance tests are carried out with viSer, the application developed by the company SmartViser.
