It sounded like a well-organized cyber attack. In large parts of Germany, the emergency numbers 110 and 112 were canceled on Thursday morning. The first thing that happened in the emergency network of the police and fire brigade was from 4.30 a.m. in North Rhine-Westphalia. Then networks also failed in Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia, among others. Many control centers were unavailable until 5.40 a.m. But the reason for the failure was not a foreign power. The problem was triggered by a breakdown in the Telekom network.
