Fact check: Video is said to show a derailed train in the Ukraine war

Watch the video: The video is supposed to show a derailed train in the Ukraine war with Russian tanks – but the pictures are five years old.

A video of a derailed train with overturned tanks and military equipment is circulating on social networks.

On Twitter, users claim that these are recent images of a Russian military transport in the Ukrainian city of Bryansk.
But is this claim true?

Twitter users claim the video shows current events. However, an image comparison via Google image search shows that the video was uploaded to YouTube in 2017.

At that time, Russian and Ukrainian media reported that the train in Russia had derailed at one of the easternmost railway stations. Instead of in the Ukraine, the recordings were made in Chita, more than 6,500 kilometers away, near the Mongolian border.

So the video is about an incident in Russia that happened several years ago and thus before the war in Ukraine.
