Whether sailor, musketeer or imperial style, mustache, goatee or full beard: the beard world championship was held in Upper Bavaria. And women were also allowed to participate.

Beard and mustache wearers from all over the world took part in the Beard World Cup in Upper Bavaria. Whether sailor, musketeer or imperial style – creativity was required to survive in the various categories. The international competition was held on Friday and Saturday by the East Bavarian Bart & Schnauzer Club based in Altötting.

On the two days of the competition, the participants had time during the day to style and trim their facial hair – be it a moustache, a goatee or a full beard. Always in the late evening: the award ceremonies. Women were also allowed to take part in the World Cup in Burghausen, with mustaches and beards made of real or synthetic hair.

The first Beard World Cup of the World Beard and Mustache Association took place in 1991 in Höfen an der Enz in the Black Forest. Since then there have been competitions in Norway, Sweden, the USA, Great Britain and most recently in Belgium in 2019. The 2021 World Cup in New Zealand was canceled due to the corona pandemic.
